Marvel Previews for Wed Oct 13 -Black Cat, Marvel Adventures and more-

October 9, 2010

It’s the weekend and time again to look at Marvel’s previews for the upcoming week. Of note this week is issue 4 of the Black Cat mini-series starring everyone’s favorite feline themed cat-burglar (unless of course you’re a Catwoman fan) Felecia Hardy! Also looking interesting is Marvel Super Heroes #7 part of the Marvel Adventures imprint which I’ve yet to check out but has caught my attention lately.

Now I haven’t been following this one but it’s nice to see Black Cat given some attention it’s been a while since I’ve seen her front and center. Amanda Conner’s cover work here is pretty subdued especially when compared to her work on Powergirl.

I don’t see too much problem with the characterization here it seems like a really fun book over all, and it’s nice that there was so much female staff working on it. I’ll probably pick up the trade of this when it comes out and give it a full review.

Marvel Superheroes #7

What can I say about this cover? Badass! I’ve never seen Invisible Woman look cooler. For those unfamiliar with Marvel Adventures it’s a kids friendly comic imprint from Marvel but unlike most of the DC Kids lines (which are all excellent) or Marvel’s own Super Hero Squad (which is pretty fun in it’s own right) this doesn’t kiddiefy the art style or tone down the action too much, it’s just an all PG friendly continuity which is pure fun.

Probably going to pick this one up for a full review… I just love how much unabashed fun it has. The underwater art is just really cool and the whole thing is just pure entertainment. Black Widow really should have a pressure suit instead of just an oxygen mask, but the lack of one doesn’t feel exploitative here. I’m really excited to see what’s in the ship.
